A useful tool to help with mounting cranks on Kris Holm Schlumpf hubs. Helps to prevent rounding out of Schlumpf Crank Bolts. Accepts a 6mm allen key.
This innovative bolt from Schlumpf Innovations is designed to minimise the chance of rounding out and ruining your Schlumpf Crank Bolts when mounting cranks on a Kris Holm Schlumpf hub. Lovingly handmade in the Swiss Alps. Fits a 6mm allen key.
To use this cranksetter bolt push the shifting button so that the shifting rod is pushed through the hub. Make sure the gear is engaged by rotating the axle until you hear the gear engage. Then mount the crank on the axle's ISIS splines by hand. We recommend applying some anti-seize compound to the splines to prevent any future creaking from the hub/crank connection. Use the longest 6mm allen key you can find to 'set' the crank with the Cranksetter Bolt. If you have a torque wrench use it to tighten close to 50Nm. When you've torqued up the crank, remove the the Cranksetter Bolt and replace it with a Schlumpf Crank Bolt. Finally tighten the Crank Bolt to 50-55Nm of torque.
Recommended tightening torque for KH Moment cranks on the Kris Holm Schlumpf hub is 50 - 55Nm. We recommend using a torque wrench to ensure that your cranks are tightened adequately. Apply gentle hand pressure to the allen key ensuring that it stays in place while using your torque wrench. This minimises the chance of rounding out your crank bolt.
